The Department of Emergency Medicine at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences is a cornerstone of acute healthcare delivery, providing round-the-clock, high-quality care for medical and surgical emergencies. The department is equipped with modern resuscitation facilities, advanced monitoring systems, and seamless access to multidisciplinary specialties. EM in RMLIMS was formally established in 2015.

Vision & Mission

Our vision is to develop a center of excellence that delivers world-class patient care, advances clinical research, and sets benchmarks in emergency and trauma services at regional and national levels. The department is committed to delivering protocol-driven, time-sensitive, and evidence-based emergency care. We act as the hub for the Golden Hour Project, ensuring quality care in the Golden Hour of critical events like AMI, Brain Stroke, and Trauma. We aim to utilize the full potential of Tele-Health and a HUB & SPOKE model for Tele-ED and Tele-ICU services.

The department manages an annual footfall of approximately 170,000 patients. Emergency Green OPD is available 24*7.

  • Current Bed Strength: 55 beds, with plans to extend to 90.
  • Breakdown: General (45), HDU (4), ICU (10).
  • Casualty Trolley Beds: 35.
